Galvanised steel profiles

All SIGMAT profile sections are manufactured using hot dipped galvanised steel to (BSEN 10143:2006) in grades from S280 and S450 as required. They have a Z275 coating and are supplied self-finished.

Our profiles range includes:

Series Wall Stud

The SIGMAT Wall Stud is the principal vertical load bearing member and is produced in a narrow and wide flange version in various material thicknesses between 1.2mm and 3mm.

The enhanced features of the SIGMAT stud are the additional return lips and the web rib stiffener which combine to provide the significant increase in capacity compared with a traditional 'C' section.

The studs are connected to the head and base members using our recess boss and boss bolt details to provide a flush bolted connection through pre-punched close tolerance holes. The recess boss detail allows the bolts to develop a full shear and bearing capacity.

A standard services slot 26mm diameter x 50mm long can be provided in the web as required.

Series Asymmetrical Jamb Stud

The SIGMAT Asymmetrical Jamb Stud is an optimised version of the wall stud profile. It is produced with a wide outer flange to receive a vertical brick tie channel, or other external features, and it has a narrower inner flange in various material thicknesses between 1.2mm and 3mm.

The jamb stud uses a reduced profile girth and has the same additional features as the wall stud, combining to provide the significant increase in capacity compared with a traditional 'C' section.

A standard services slot 26mm diameter x 50mm long can be provided in the web as required.

Series Head and Base Track

The SIGMAT Wall Head and Base Track is a simple channel profile into which the vertical wall studs fit. They are connected by the recess boss detailed in the SIGMAT Wall Stud. The profile has an internal corner radius of 1.5mm and is produced as a slightly over bent section to allow the vertical studs to achieve a full contact end bearing. The tracks are produced in various material thicknesses between 1.6mm and 3mm.

A standard services slot 26mm diameter x 50mm long can be provided in the web as required.

Series Internal Wall Head Top Hat

The SIGMAT Internal Wall Head is a single member top hat section produced in various depths between 160mm and 200mm. It is designed to support a composite metal deck reinforced-concrete floor, or a steel joisted floor cassette on the ledger flanges. The top hats are produced in 2mm and 3mm thicknesses.

The vertical wall studs fit into the inside profile of the top hat and are bolted together with cup head bolts. The profiles are manufactured with internal corner radii of 1.5mm and are produced as a slightly over-bent section to allow the vertical studs to achieve a full contact bearing.

The top hat is the only single-piece head member available. It provides manufacturing and assembly benefits and a much-improved waterproof detail during construction. This offers a substantial advantage over alternative industry multi-part standard details and allows the finishing trades to progress much earlier than with other systems.

A standard services slot 26mm diameter x 50mm long can be provided in the top flange as required.

Series End Wall Top Hat Track

The SIGMAT End Wall Top Hat Track profile is formed by combining the required functions of a traditional head track section with an internal top hat, to form a single-piece profile. This is used where an external end wall is required to support the floor slab. The end wall top hat tracks are produced in varying depths between 160mm and 200mm and in 2mm and 3mm thicknesses.

The metal decking is supported on the ledger flanges and the vertical face of the profile provides a shutter trim for concreting works. The single-piece head member offers the same manufacturing, assembly and weathering benefits as the internal top hat.

A standard services slot 26mm diameter x 50mm long can be provided in the top flange as required.

Series Side Wall Top Hat Track

The SIGMAT Side Wall Top Hat Track profile is similar to the end wall top hat track. It is used to form the panel head on external wall panels where the composite metal decking is laid parallel to the wall and a side edge support/closure is required for the decking. The side wall top hat tracks are produced in varying depths between 160mm and 200mm in 1.6mm and 2mm thicknesses.

A standard services slot 26mm diameter x 50mm long can be provided in the top flange as required.

Series Side Closure Angles

SIGMAT Side Closure Angles are produced for use in conjunction with a traditional head track as an alternative to the single-piece Side Wall Top Hat Track detailed on the opposite page. They are fixed on-site. The angles are provided pre-punched in varying depths between 160mm and 200mm in 2mm thickness.

Series Flat Strap Bracings

SIGMAT Flat Strap Structural Bracing is produced from 100mm x 1.5mm thick flat strap and is used in a series of crossed pairs to provide a tension bracing system to provide the required lateral structural stability.

The diagonal straps are bolted through the track/top hat at the connection with the vertical studs.

Series Asymetrical Channel

SIGMAT Asymmetrical Channel Profiles are produced in varying depths between 125mm and 200mm deep in 3mm thickness.

The channels are typically used in parapet locations. They support the composite metal decking at the point where the supporting wall continues above the floor.

Floor Joist Series

The SIGMAT Floor Joist is the principal floor beam member where a steel joisted timber cassette floor construction is required. It is produced in narrow and wide flange versions in various depths between 100mm and 220mm in material thicknesses between 1.2mm and 3mm.

The principal features of the SIGMAT stud are the additional return lips and the web rib stiffener which combine to provide the significant increase in capacity compared with a traditional 'C' section joist.

Joists are typically provided at 450 and 600mm centres, in either a single or back-to-back format and pre-assembled off-site into multiple piece cassettes which span between load bearing walls. The joists are connected to end track joists using our recess boss and boss bolt details to provide a flush bolted connection through pre-punched close tolerance holes. This creates a fully framed pre-formed panel, boarded on the upper face with BWP plywood, OSB board, or similar.

A standard services slot 26mm diameter x 50mm long can be provided in the web as required.

Floor Joist End Track Series

The SIGMAT Joist End Track is formed as a simple channel track section in varying depths to suit the SIGMAT floor joists. It caps the end of the floor joists which fit in the inside profile and are fully bolted using our recess boss and boss bolt arrangement to create a fully framed pre-formed panel. The panel is boarded on the upper face with either BWP plywood, OSB board, or similar.

The pre-formed floor panel can either sit on the top hat flanges at the supporting walls and be fixed with Tek screws from the underside, or it can be bolted directly to the vertical stud flanges through the track web holes.
